First thing to check is to make sure the door is closing properly, so open it and then firmly close it. If you are pressing start before closing the door, make sure to close the door within 3 seconds. Next make sure it's getting power, press the buttons on the display, if they do not light up, then make sure the dishwasher is plugged in correctly, if it is then try resetting the breaker. If your home has a fuse box, check to see if the fuse is bad. Check to make sure Delay Start or Control Lock Mode is not selected, these modes will prevent it from starting.
Check the drain hose that is connected under your sink or to the garbage disposal to make sure it's not bending too much. Check inside the drain hose for blockage. Clean the dishwasher air gap, if it has one.
Check the door to make sure it's closing properly. Next check to make sure the dishwasher is level from both side to side and front to back. Try adjusting the rinse agent to a lower number to see if this fixes the problem, as too much rinse agent could be dispensing. Too much detergent could be another problem, so try running a cycle without detergent to see what happens.
